Big Sister Stand-Up Card

Image
This is a card I made for a girl who was not going to be an only child anymore.  She was at the babyshower for her new baby sister, so I wanted her to have something special too.  I made her this card and gave her a little gift bag full of goodies that any 8 year old girl would love. The card folds flat, put pops open and then rests in a slit at the back. I created a scene in the back to show off the 3-D look of it. I just love making these types of card because you can make them any theme and it looks so cool. Below is the template for an 8.5"x 11" paper...just make sure that when you cut out the inside rectangle you don't cut where the dotted lines are...that's where it folds and stays together. I'd love to see anyone else's take on this stand up card. Hint...Cut slits in the inside rectangle to stick letters or cut out shapes through, just make sure you make a tail so it can stick through the slit.

Fruity Birthday Card with Waterfall Inside

Image
I just love the fresh fruit look of this card.  I used SVGs from Lettering Delight's summer treats   . For the inside I wanted to create an interactive card, so I made a waterfall with my sister's name and some more fun fruit. After you pull the letters down, you can write a secret message on the pull down flap.

Summer Wedding Card

Here is a fun summery wedding card I used tracing paper to give it a layered look. Some pearls and paper flowers finish off the dress.

Patriotic Pinwheel

I was inspired to create this fun red, white and blue pinwheel using this SVGCuts freebie I love how the possibilities for these are only limited by the paper and ribbon you use...which basically means endless possibilities. I put mine in my window garden, and it looks so summery.

Summer Birthday Card

For my Father-in-law's birthday, my husband commissioned me to come up with a neat card.  I wanted him to be a part of the process too, so I asked him either what color scheme I should do or what card idea he had in mind.  For this one he said it would be neat to make a grill based card, and I took it from there. I used Lettering Delights backyard fun SVGs to make the grill. I used a shape from my library in MTC along with the shadow of the grill to make the card base.   It didn't come with a lid, but I really wanted to hide the hamburger and hotdog and "Happy Birthday" inside, so I turned the base of the grill upside down in MTC and ta-dah, a lid.  I attached it to the back of the card with a small flap and added a black rectangle with silver brads and and a little piece of foam tape in the middle to make the handle curve a little. For the inside I made a picnic table also using the grill base, and I just covered it with a table cloth.  Then I added the lemonade an

Spring Crafts

Some of my Spring projects this year have been cards...my 6 year old niece's birthday, a friend's new baby boy, and a wedding card. I created a wardrobe for the paper doll, which is supposed to be my niece. Before I was finished with the card I kept adding things, like a puse with some cash, ribbons for the dolls pig-tails, and a cool "Happy Birthday" grafiti. For the Baby card I used a freebie from SVGCuts.com and then embellished the card with buttons and glitter. I meant to have the inside say "Welcome Matthew", but when I cut out the shadow layer in MTC I forgot to swith the words, so I got Matthew Welcome, and then added a comma and Home so that it makes more sense. For the wedding card I used another one of SVGCuts files, their Breezy Backyard Lever Card collection and some glitter paper to create a summery feeling card. I can't remember where I got the bride and groom silouette, but it was also a freebie.  I made the rings from the shapes i

I won a contest for Lettering Delights!

Image
http://www.letteringdelights.com/searchsite_detail.php?id=2015 I created a summer themed table scape complete with a lantern, napkin holder, napkin rings and covered salt and pepper shakers, and low and behold I won!  Anyone can enter these contests, you just have to use their products in your submitted piece, and if you don't have a cutting machine, you can use the graphics that you print out and then cut with an exacto knife, it's a little more challenging that way, but it's still fun with all the varieties of projects this website has to offer.

SVGs

My favorite "toy" in my craft room is my cricut, and my favorite thing to use my cricut for is to cut SVGs from my Make the Cut program.  I can either make my own SVGs using Inkscape  to create shapes or pieces that create a design, or to purchase or download free SVGs from websites such as Lettering Delights  or SVG Cuts.  I love making cards, home decor, scrapbook pages or mini albums with these neat cutouts.  I made this cute cherry birthday card for my mom, using a lot of layers and fun red glitter.  The possibilities with SVGs is endless fun.
