Happy Day Card!

To start off this fine day, my husband and I needed a good breakfast, so we made our new favorite...German breakfast!
 It all started one day when my husband asked me what kind of breakfast I had when I was in Germany that was completely different than traditional American breakfast foods. I was young growing up in Germany so I had to think about it and even went online to research what most German's have for breakfast, and as soon as I saw pictures, it all started to remind me of foods I had. I put together a grocery list and we created our first German breakfast back in May.
Today, we have mastered the ingredients and loved every bite of it. It consists of a pretzel roll, lettuce, tomato, onion, cheddar cheese, roast beef, chicken, hard boiled eggs with paprika on top and fresh fruit. I know it looks like a lot, and it kind of is, but it's a good meal to start the day. Plus it's so pretty! We pile all of our toppings onto the pretzel roll and YUM!



After filling up, I was inspired to make a fun card to share. I really love Kristina Werner's tutorials using watercolors on cards, so I gave it a try.
I have made paintings with watercolors in the past, but I thought this technique was especially fun. I put blobs of watercolor paint on my Ranger craft mat and spritzed it with water, then I moved my watercolor paper that I had embossed with white embossing powder in the colors until I liked the look.
I added a shadow with my cool gray C3 Copic marker (the only one I own) and it really makes the title show a little better. Then I finished the look with some Trendy Twine and blue rhinestones. Around the card I used Vintage photo and Wild Honey distress ink and some pinking shears that I outlined with a white gel pen.



I have created my own pearlescent water spray and added pearl powder to my water brush as well.

Hello all, I have been vacant from posting due to school...(blech) but now I am free! I just finished my last two courses that qualify me for my AA degree (only took me forever to get to this point), so I am so excited to be finished with that portion of school. Now on to some fun stuff!  I have made a lantern for Halloween and Fall, so I thought I would stick with the theme and make one for Christmas to give to my sister since she doesn't have much in the way of Christmas decorations. I took these pictures with the tealight led, but I gave her a color changing light too, so she can swith it up. My nephew (he's 7) took a look at both and decided he liked the color changing light the best, and wanted to put it in his room...I guess they can share. I will start by crediting Mod Paperie with the idea project she posted, hers is totally awesome and her details are ridiculous (in a totally awesome way of course)!!! On to the project... Aged Treasure Chest

Good sunshiny morning!  I have a very cool treasure chest to share with you today.  My friend is getting married with a nautical theme, and she asked me to make her a treasure box to hold the cards at the gift table instead of the classic birdcage or decorative box.  We played around with a couple of proto-types, but they were all too small to hold a large card, let alone several.  That's when I knew I was going to have to get creative and play with a couple of different kits to get the look we were after.  I used these kits from SVG Cuts: Ryan's Play Date I used just the sides and bottom of the box My Day with Dad I used the lid from the tool box, but not the sides of the lid (I cut a few extra slits in the tabs so that it would fit around a semi-circle). Coffee Filter Fall Leaves

I know it's still hot out in most places right now, but in Florida I'll take any excuse to bring on cooler weather or at least the idea of it, so I want to share a fun and easy tutorial for making fall leaves out of coffee filters. I purchased some white coffee filters from the Dollar Tree, some $1.00 spray bottles (Target, Walmart and Michaels have them), and I used food coloring mixed with water and pearl powders to make my shimmer sprays. On either wax paper, freezer paper or a Ranger Craft Sheet, start spraying the colors until you have some variety of yellow, orange, green and red. Then start to soak your coffee filter until it is filled with color. Set it aside to let it dry or you can bake it in a 200 degree oven for faster dry time. I also used my heat tool and that work great too. Step 1 . Create a leaf template onto 110 lb paper using a real leaf or an existing silk leaf and trace onto dry coffee filter. Step 2 . Cut out the leaf shape.
